MTA-ELKH-ELTE Research Group in Mathematics Education

Our call presents the planned continuation of the work of two different projects on mathematics didactics, the MTA-ELTE Modern Complex Mathematics Education and the MTA-Rényi Exploratory Mathematics Teaching projects, which will run between 2016 and 2021 within the framework of the MTA's Research Programme on Subject Pedagogy. 

The new four-year project aims to support the widespread implementation of discovery mathematics education, to develop and adapt the existing practice to the challenges of modern times, to better familiarise the international mathematics didactics community with the Hungarian discovery mathematics teaching tradition, and to integrate modern international research trends into the ongoing research and development in Hungary.

The participants of our competition are experienced and young researchers, PhD students, teachers and educators working in different regions of the country, working on different levels of mathematics education, from primary school to teacher training.

Our main objective is to provide opportunities for collaboration between researchers who have previously worked in isolation, to enter the international research community, and to involve as many young researchers and PhD students as possible. In this way, our project would represent an important step towards the institutionalisation of mathematics didactics research in Hungary.
