The Institute's staff work in research departments and research groups in the following fields: algebra, algebraic geometry, algebraic logic and computer science, approximation theory, differential equations, discrete mathematics, functional analysis, geometry, set theory, information theory, statistics and statistical physics, number theory, topology, probability theory.
The Institute's high level of research performance is best reflected in the articles published by its staff in leading international journals. Our researchers play an important role in the organisation of both the Institute's conferences and the scientific events of the Bolyai János Mathematical Society, whose conference proceedings are well known and respected in the international mathematical community. In 2001, the Rényi Institute was awarded the title of European Union Centre of Excellence.
