Richárd Rimányi: Hierarchy of Artin algebras

If we accelerate an algebra to sufficiently high speed---and hence high energy (in an underground facility on the border between Switzerland and France), it may split into several other algebras. For example, C[x,y,z]/(x^2+z^3,y^2+z^3,xz,yz] can split into C[u,v]/(u^3,uv,v^3) + C[t]/(t^2). In this talk, we explore the hierarchy of complex Artin algebras that arise in this way, using singularities in geometry. Joint work with J. Koncki.
