Clemens Fuchs (University of Salzburg): On the growth of recurrences

Abstract: Forty years ago, van der Poorten and Schlickewei used the subspace theorem to derive an interesting result on the growth of (multi-)recurrences. If the recurrence is defined over a number field and if some further natural assumptions are satisfied, then the terms of the recurrence grow exponentially. In my talk I will revisit their result, give a proof, and discuss variants (e.g. for function fields) of it. This talk is based on joint work with Sebastian Heintze (TU Graz).
