Introduction:

The members of the MTA-Rényi-ELTE Mathematics Education Research Group are university lecturers, PhD students, and practicing primary and secondary school teachers working in different regions of the country.

The aim of the new four-year project is to build on the results achieved in the previous project to further promote the widespread implementation of discovery-based mathematics education, from teacher training to everyday teaching practice, to continue researching the process of meaningful mathematical learning among students, to strengthen cooperation between universities and public education institutions, continue to raise awareness of Hungarian traditions in discovery-based mathematics education among the international mathematics education community, and incorporate current international research trends into ongoing research and development in Hungary.

Another important goal is to continue the domestic and international research collaborations established during previous projects within the framework of this project and to involve as many young researchers and PhD students as possible in the research. In this way, our project would represent a further step towards the institutionalization of mathematics education research in Hungary.
