The Rényi Institute has won funding from the European Union's Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Networks consortium. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions contribute to the development of excellent doctoral programmes, postdoctoral training programmes and collaborative research projects, and encourage high-quality research education and have a significant impact on cooperation between higher education institutions.

The consortium leader of the winning MSCA programme is the Rényi Institute, and the consortium members are the University of Vienna, the University of Regensburg, the University of Glasgow and the University of Nantes. Over the next four years, 12 young mathematicians participating in the programme will be able to participate in training at these institutions. The partner universities of the application, which has a total amount of 3.7 million euros, are ELTE, the University of Pisa and Princeton University.

The application was submitted by the Rényi Institute, and its topic is low-dimensional topology, and the intersections of this topic with symplectic, contact and algebraic topology. Artificial intelligence will also play a role in the training, and the research program pays special attention to the applicability of AI methods in topological research.
The topic of the grant awarded is particularly gratifying, because theoretical mathematics programs rarely win in the framework of the MSCA Doctoral Network applications.
