Remarks on the Theory of Extremal Graph Theory.

Abstract.
The lecture will contain several results, yet it will be primarily on the history (on the birth) of extremal graph theory,
and primarily on those parts of extremal graph theory which developed from the research of Vera Sós, and of Paul Erdős.
So it will contain -- among others -- parts on
Results on the applications of finite geometries,
Ramsey-Turán theory,
and on Anti-Ramsey theorems.
There are two ``pretexts'' for this lecture:
There will be an issue of Notices on the mathematics of Vera Sós, from several authors, and one of them will be a paper of mine, and besides this, next April the Magyar Tudomány will be on Mathematics, on the occasion of that the Academy is 200 years old, and it will contain -- among others -- a paper of Füredi and myself on how accepted is the Hungarian mathematics internationally.
