Description
Abstract:
Linnik raised the question whether one can write every sufficiently
large even integer as the sum of two primes and a bounded number of
powers of two. He showed this in the 1950s with K powers of two, where
K was an unspecified large absolute constant. I will sketch the proof
that K=8 powers of two suffices, a result announced many years ago and
worked out recently in details.
