Description
To celebrate the centenary of the birth of Alfréd Rényi, who founded and later became denominating figure of the Institute, we organize an Institute Colloquium.
Additionally, at the very beginning we will dedicate a few minutes to celebrate the fresh Abel Prize of our colleague László Lovász.
To the honor of Alfréd Rényi in 1972 the Rényi Award has been founded by the board of the Institute at that time. The award is given to researchers of the Institute in recognition for their exceptional international mathematical output of the past five years.
During the commemorative Colloquium Director András Stipsicz will present the Rényi Award.
Afterwards, there will be three talks, 20 minutes each:
Domokos Szász - An innocent-looking theorem of Rényi on representations of real numbers.
János Pintz - Alfréd Rényi and the quasi-Goldbach problem
Gyula Katona OH - Alfréd Rényi the leader, the teacher, the human, and much more.
The collection of publications of Alfréd Rényi together with a short summary of his life and work, photos are available on our webpage.
