Rooms have been reserved at City Hotel Mátyás and at Hotel Pilvax. Both are within a walking distance of the Institute. You will be informed about where you will be staying shortly. Click here to see how to get from your hotel to the Institute.
Coming from the Budapest Airport we suggest you to take the shuttle service called Airport Minibus, which costs 2100 HUF per person. The Minibus brings you to the stated address. You may buy your minibus ticket at the service's counters right in the baggage claim area or in the arrival hall. (ATM's and exchange bureaus are available at the airport). You may buy a roundtrip ticket or order your return trip by phone 1 or 2 days before leaving. (phone #: 296-8555)
The taxis you see when walking out of the airport (Tourist Taxi) are rather expensive (about 6500-8500 HUF). It is better to call a taxi company working with fixed rates by phone. Taxi2000 (2 000 000) charges 3800 HUF for the Pest side (where you will be staying); while F.taxi (2 222 222) and 6X6 Taxi (2 666 666) charge 4000 HUF. (Sept 2005 prices) All of these companies will send you a car within 10 minutes time.
There is also a regular (blue) bus service (Airport bus/Reptér busz) leaving roughly every 15 minutes (timetable) which for a normal Budapest us ticket (160 HUF) takes you to the end station of underground line No 3. On this bus you can also buy a ticket from the driver. Buses are available till midnight, but keep in mind that the last underground train leaves at 23.10.
Trains from abroad usually arrive at Keleti railway station, from where you can take bus No. 7 to "Ferencziek tere". A single ride bus ticket is about 160 forints. You can get it at the ticket booth at the metro entrance or several other locations. If you arrive late at night it is better to take a taxi (see above).
Travel expenses (economy class roundtrip airfare, up to 400-450 EU) will be reimbursed. To expedite the reimbursement process please fax the bill and the copy of the ticket after purchasing it to (36-1)-483-83-32. On the front cover indicate 'BudAlgGeo/Stipsicz'.
Computer access at the Institute A temporary email account will be set up for you for the time of the conference. You can use it to access your regular mailbox from any of the computers at the Institute. Also the halls of the 1st and 2nd floor are WIFI equipped.
