Prerequisite: Use of calculus is to be minimal. Where possible, statistical concepts will be reinforced by doing an example on the computer.
Course description: The course will make the students aware of the most important statistical techniques and allow them to apply sound statistical reasoning to their own research
Topics:
Short introduction (refreshment) to the probability theory.
Descriptive study of data.
Basic concepts of testing hypotheses and point estimation.
Inferences about a population.
Comparing two treatments.
Regression analysis (linear regression, model checking).
Analysis of variance.
Analysis of categorized data (contingency tables).
