General information about Hungary:

Citizens of the United States and European countries (with the exception of Turkey) do not need visas to enter Hungary. Citizens of other countries may need one, but this can be done at the airport or at the border. Please note that you cannot get a visa on a train.

In Hungary the local currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF). The present exchange rate is one US dollar is about 150 Forints. There is a wide black market for exchange but (because of probable cheating) we discourage everybody from exchanging money on the black market. Please note that the banks and money exchange offices are usually open only in morning and early afternoon. It is best therefore if you change money at the airport or railway station upon arrival.

The weather at Lake Balaton in July is mostly sunny and warm with the average temperature between 25-30 C. However rain and cold weather is also conceivable.

Balatonlelle is a lake-shore resort, so you should not forget to bring your swimming suit. Hotel Giuseppe has its own beach which is free of charge for all the registered guests. Balatonlelle is also ideal for cycling, it is mostly flat and there are bike paths.

Transportation in Budapest:

We suggest to use the Airport Minibus which can be booked upon arrival at the airport. It costs about 1000 HUF. There is also an Airport bus which goes to Deák tér which is the meeting point of the subway lines. The cost is 500 HUF. Taxi cabs are usually available, but the prices are not fixed and foreigners may be cheated. Presently you must pay about 100 HUF per kilometer plus about the same initial fee. To reach the railway stations may cost about 3500 HUF from the airport.

In case you prefer to take city transportation, you can take a city bus No. 93 (the number on the bus is written in red.) from the airport to the last stop where you can change to the "blue" subway (Metro) line and go with it to Deák tér. The trams, subways, suburban trains and city buses operate with pre-purchased tickets. One ticket costs 50 HUF. You can buy these tickets at kiosks, newspaper stands and ticket offices which usually can be found at the entrances of subway stations. Boarding the vehicles or entering the subway station you must validate a ticket.

From Deák tér both Déli pályaudvar (South Station) and Keleti pályaudvar (East Station) can be reached using the "red" Metro line. Déli pályaudvar is one of the terminal stations, and Keleti pályaudvar is the third stop in the other direction (from Deák tér to Örs vezér tere.)
