The summer school will be held in the 19th century Redl Palace that hosts Rényi Institute, in the very center of Budapest. Talks will be held in the main lecture hall, coffee breaks will be served in the main hall.
Street address is Reáltanoda u. 13-15.
Internet access at the Institute
A temporary email account will be set up for you for the time of the conference. You can use it to access your regular mailbox from any of the computers at the Institute. Also the halls of the 1st and 2nd floor are WIFI equipped.
Participants supported by the EMS grant will stay at City Hotel Mátyás. (Address: 1056 Budapest, Március 15. tér 8., click on the map to enlarge it.)
We do the booking for the dates that you enter on the registration page, this is why all participants should register and enter arrival date. Supported researchers will share the hotel room, if you have a comment about your roommate, please enter that on the registration page. We would also be grateful if those wearing a not very well known first name would also enter their sex. The EMS grant covers the hotel room for the nights between July 9 and 23, so if you come earlier or leave later, you will have to pay for those nights for yourself. Unfortunately there are very few vacant rooms at Hotel Mátyás on the 22th, so we suggest that you stay in Balatonalmádi as long as you can. If you must spend Saturday night in Budapest, please tell us as soon as possible.
Other participants are kindly asked to book a room for themselves. On the (clickable) map above you see Hotel Mátyás and two guesthouses real close to us. All have a webpage and e-mail address; if you still meet problems when booking a room, please ask Veronika Pándi.
Participants supported by the EMS grant are welcome to a three-course lunch at Café Károlyi on all five days of the summer school. Other participants can join on their own charge (HUF 2,000/day, to be paid in advance).

Airport
The easiest and most comfortable way of coming into town is to take an
Airport Minibus, which will pick you up along with a few other passengers and take you to the address you indicate (the name of the hotel usually suffices). You may buy your minibus ticket right off in the baggage reclaim area or in the arrival hall.
The Taxis you see when walking out of the airport (Tourist Taxi) are rather expensive (5200-5600 HUF). It is better to call a taxi company working with fixed rates.
There is also a regular (blue) bus, No 200 leaving roughly every 12-15 minutes, which for a normal Budapest bus ticket (185 HUF) takes you to the end station of underground line No 3.
Public transport
In Budapest, there is a great variety of public transport: underground (metro), buses, trams, even trolleys.
Passengers taking any of them should use pre-purchased tickets that should be validated at the beginning of the journey. For more information on schedules, night services or tickets see the page of BKV Rt. (Budapest Transport Ltd.)
Taxis
In general, when taking a taxi while in Budapest it is better to call or take one belonging to a taxi company (e.g. City Taxi (2 111 111), Taxi 2000 (2 000 000))
Otherwise you should inquire about the fare in advance in order to diminish the risk of an unpleasant surprise.
(Also if it's possible, call a taxi by phone instead of flagging one - it's cheaper)
Balatonalmádi is about 120 kms from Budapest - by train it takes about 2.5 hours to get there. On the page of the Hungarian Railways you can check the trains.
Trains leave from Déli pályaudvar (Southern Railway Station)
